Community Building Activities

The Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program (JYSEP)
Since its inception in the early 1970s, the Ruhi Institute has striven to serve through its educational activities young people between the ages of 12 to 15, often referred to as “junior youth”, who represent such a special segment of society. The program takes 3 years for junior youth to graduate, upon completion they start studying Ruhi books. This program aims at creating a culture that promotes attitudes towards young people so different from the ones being perpetuated in many societies today.
Children Spiritual Education
Principles are instructed to children such as teachings and basic beliefs of the Faith. Emphasis is placed on thinking, reflecting and applying spiritual laws to one’s life and society. The children classes are being conducted in grades depending on the years that the children are: 1-5 years grade 1, 6-8 years grade 2 and 8-11 years grade 3 after they finish grade 3 they graduate to become the participants of junior youth spiritual empowerment program from the age of 12 to 15 years as a special time when they leave childhood behind and undergo a profound change in their lives.
Study Circle Education (Institute)
This is where friends whether Baha’i or not study together the institute courses of the main sequence in building capacities and development of human resources to serve towards Baha’u’llah`s Vision. 13 books in the main sequence deepen the understanding the principles of the Faith by believers and friends of the Faith alike. Each book has its concepts to articulate the spiritual perception in individuals, communities and institution.
Devotional Meetings
These are prayer meetings. Prayers are held at various levels such as individual, household, sector, and community levels. Baha’u’llah commands us in the most Holy Book (Kitab-i-Aqdas) “Recite ye the verses of God every morn and eventide. Whoso faileth to recite them hath not been faithful to the Covenant of God…“.
Social Economical Efforts
Most Bahá’í social and economic development efforts are fairly simple activities of fixed duration in which Bahá’ís around the world address the problems and challenges faced by their localities through the application of spiritual principles. These activities either originate in the Bahá’í communities themselves or represent responses to invitations from other organizations. They often arise from junior youth groups or other groups of believers who are concerned with the betterment of their community.  Among such activities are informal tutorial classes for children or youth, workshops and seminars, short-term training courses, tree-planting and clean-up projects, planting gardens or common plots, health camps, and efforts to discuss or raise consciousness about such topics as the equality of men and women, education of children, parenting, and health.
